Spring has finally sprung~! I was beginning to think we were going to be trapped in an endless winter. Not that I would have minded, but I know others were getting quite sick of the snow. Can’t blame them, the nicer weather sure is a relief from the bitter cold. And with the warmer weather comes the need to switch up the old skincare routines. New season, new skin problems. The wonders of nature, right? So in the spirit of all this change, I decided to share with you my new spring skincare routine to prepare for these warm sunny days.
When it comes to makeup and skincare I try hard to find products with good ingredients that will benefit my skin in the long run. I’m someone who favors good skincare over makeup, but the makeup that stays on my skin all day needs to be just as good. That’s where It Cosmetics comes in. This is one of my favorite beauty brands as they offer worthwhile skincare alongside some of the best makeup I’ve ever used.
Is it just me, or does it seem like January is the longest month of the year? It’s like as soon as the New Year starts we’re stuck in this never-ending lull where everything has just begun, but nothing has really started yet. Now that it has finally come to a long-awaited end, I can share with you my January favorites! I got a few fun things to try out around Christmas and some of them have made it to my favorites list so let’s check them out, shall we?
Life is stressful. Whether you’re a mother, a lady boss, a teacher, a student, or all of the above, life can get to be a little much at even the best of times. This is why it’s so important to take a few minutes a day to pause and breath, relax and remind yourself that there is more to this life than rushing around to meetings, writing papers, and being glued to your inbox. Everyone needs some time to de-stress, to refresh their mindset to look at life clearer and relish the joys of every day. So, I’m here to share my 5 favorite masks to de-stress with. Make some tea, pull up a chair, and let’s get cozy.
We’re in the peak of winter, and while the cold never bothered me anyway (I’ll see myself out now) it definitely bothers my skin. Having sensitive skin in cold weather can lead to painful chapping, dry patches, and misery all around. Certainly doesn’t help when I get breakouts and makeup will not lay right to cover them. However, I think after a few years of being into this skincare thing and some trial an error I’ve found a routine to beat those dry-skin-scalies.
I personally believe moisturizers are a huge must in any skincare routine. Honestly, if you can only afford one thing I’d say the moisturizer. You want your skin to feel good as well as look good and if you don’t properly hydrate it, then your skin won’t look its best. It doesn’t matter what skin type you have, you still have to moisturize, and there are tons of moisturizers out there that target specific skin concerns.
It’s the question everyone has. It passes through our minds when we’re shopping at the beauty stores, looking at all the glossy packaging of these name brand products. Where should I spend my money? To some, it seems like a much better investment to pay $50 for a foundation instead of $48 for a moisturizer. To others, that luxury $80 four-pan eyeshadow palette seems like such a better use of money than that $50 serum. Now, it’s your money, use it as you like; there is no wrong thing to buy. Beauty is about experimenting and reaching the end goal of you feeling like your best self. However, why does your best self have to be covered in a mask of full-coverage foundations, concealers, blushers, bronzers, highlighters and everything in between? Skincare can make you look just as good by treating your problem areas instead of covering them.
Let’s face it (pun not intended), people don’t take care of their skin as well as they should. So many people think they can simply wash their face with whatever soap they have and they’ll be fine. Or worse, acne prone people will reach for the peroxide or salicylic acid that causes more harm than good. It especially doesn’t help if you’re on strong acne medications to help battle those pesky breakouts, which 9 out of 10 times leaves you with sensitive skin, pealing, and dry. Seeing as I’m in the latter category, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite cleansers to help battle the breakouts and help to soothe irritated skin.
I have suffered from acne for as long as I can remember. I had a really nice period between eighth and ninth grade where my skin was completely flawless, and then it just went downhill from there. I’ve tried acne creams, gels, pills, face washes, scrubs, pore strips, you name it, I’ve probably tried it. They’ve helped, for a while, but with all of them, my skin is always left dry, irritated, and stupidly sensitive. I’ve been on the never-ending search for a moisturizer that wasn’t going to make my face greasy but was going to do the job I needed it to.
