Life is stressful. Whether you’re a mother, a lady boss, a teacher, a student, or all of the above, life can get to be a little much at even the best of times. This is why it’s so important to take a few minutes a day to pause and breath, relax and remind yourself that there is more to this life than rushing around to meetings, writing papers, and being glued to your inbox. Everyone needs some time to de-stress, to refresh their mindset to look at life clearer and relish the joys of every day. So, I’m here to share my 5 favorite masks to de-stress with. Make some tea, pull up a chair, and let’s get cozy.
The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask – I love this mask for days when my skin feels dehydrated and lackluster. The scent is divine, a subtle rose with a cooling gel texture. Leave it on 20-30 minutes while reading a book, wash it off, and your skin is supple and soft. Perfect for a weeknight pamper.
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask– I would recommend only using this mask once a week, especially if you have sensitive skin. This mask has beautiful results as the charcoal draws out impurities, green tea soothes, honey softens and moisturizes the skin, and tea tree oil kills any bacteria within your pores and helps to refine them. It tingles a lot when you use it, but I find the sensation goes away after a moment. I love wearing this if I have some more writing to finish up. Once dry I know it’s time to put the laptop away and hope in the shower to rinse it off. Just be very careful as there are bamboo pieces in the mask. If you scrub too hard they’ll cause micro-tears in the skin which no one wants. This mask leaves your skin clean, purified and refreshed, a great treat after a long week.
Boscia Multi-Masking Medley – Peel off masks are so much fun to use. There is just something oddly satisfying about applying the goopy mask, letting it dry, and peeling it off in one piece. Anyone else enjoy that as much as I do? Boscia has some amazing masks and this set is the perfect way to give them a try. At $18 it’s worth the splurge to spoil yourself.
This kit comes with two packs of their Luminizing Black Mask, and a pack each of their Green Tea Oil-Control Mask and Bright White Mask. I have yet to use the latter two, but I have used the Luminizing Black Mask and it is amazing. The Luminizing Black Mask goes on in a thick black layer and when you peel it off it pulls some of the gunk from your pores out. Like I said, quite satisfying, and for a peel-off mask, it leaves your skin quite smooth and moisturized. Definitely worth looking into.
Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask – This mask will forever be my holy grail. I have yet to find one that even comes close to how amazing this mask is. The texture is like liquid silk. I love using this mask when a need a pick-me-up after a long day of writing. (Though I currently don’t have some in my stock. T.T) Put a thick layer on in the night, and wash it off in the morning. Your skin will feel like a Japanese silkworm spun a new layer of skin for you while you slept. Perfect pamper for a Sunday night to prepare for the week ahead.
TonyMoly Hylaronic Acid/Collagen Sheet Masks – Sheet masks are great for weeknight pampering. They’re simple to put on, little mess, and you only need 10-15 minutes to get the full benefit. You can even leave it on while watching a tv show or movie with your significant other or beloved pet. TonyMoly is the king of sheet masks and they’re affordable, so there great for broke students. The Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen masks are my favorites and leave my skin soft and plump after each use.
(*NOTE* Did you know that when you hit your 20’s your natural collagen production begins to slow? Collagen is what gives your skin it’s elasticity that keeps it from sagging and causing wrinkles. So it’s important to eat foods and use products to help stimulate the collagen production to avoid early aging.)
Everyone needs to take some time to pamper and take care of themselves, especially in this crazy busy society we’ve created. Don’t forget to take a walk, smell the roses, enjoy what’s in front of you, and don’t worry about what will happen two hours to two weeks from now. Our society has forgotten what it is to live in the present, but if you don’t live now, you’ll never live tomorrow. So take time to enjoy what you have now, treat yourself with as much respect as you’d treat someone you love, and always remember you’re worth it.
