Autumn Essentials

Leaves are changing, turning to golds and oranges and crimsons. The breeze is crisp and cold and spiced with cinnamon and pumpkin. Fires are being lit and apples picked, and it’s finally, finally autumn.

Autumn is my favorite time of year, not only for the aforementioned delights, but because to me, it’s just the best time of year. It’s cozy and fun, warm and homey, and I love it. So to share that love with you, I decided to do a little display of my autumn essentials.

Sweaters

This is the time of year I pretty much live in sweaters and leggings. The Sonoma brand makes some pretty cozy sweaters, and the price will fit just about anyone’s budget.  This blush color is one of my faves, but I also have one in cream. Cable knit is the way to go, baby. You can layer it over different colored tanks for a pop of see-through color to liven up your outfit and your mood.

Boots

‘Not Rated’ make one of the best fall boots in my opinion. I’ve had these guys for about 4 years now, and they are still perfectly intact. I wore these bad boys around Disney World for an entire week, so if that doesn’t tell you how comfortable and amazing these boots are, I don’t know what will. Boots can dress up or down an outfit.  Colors of the season are red, white, and glitter. Styles range from sky high to combat to slouchy. You can never go wrong with a good pair of fall boots.

Thigh-high socks

A little skater skirt, a cable knit sweater, a giant scarf, a perfect pair of boots, and thigh-high socks – my dream outfit. The ones I have are from Free People, and while they were ridiculously priced, I feel like they were well worth it. These socks have lasted me several years, and they are so comfy cozy. I love wearing them either with skirts or at night with cute pajamas. They keep you so warm, and they just scream fall.

Teas

Tazo Chai Classic Latte is like heaven in a cup and a saving grace for my wallet. There is nothing better on a fall day than curling up with a cup of tea and a good book. I’m addicted to Starbucks Chai, and it didn’t help when I worked in a cafe and had them every day. However, paying 4 bucks for a grande is a little extreme on a day-to-day basis. Doing the math, you get about 8 to 9 mugs out of one $4-dollar container of Tazo Chai Classic Latte. That’s a savings of about $40 dollars a week if you buy one every day. So, bring on the cold weather because I have a homemade all you can drink chai bar.

Baths

I finally have a bathtub!!! We’ve been in our new house for about two years now, and we finally got my cast iron, claw foot tub refinished, so it is ready to go! Lush’s The Magic of Christmas bubble bar smells amazing, and is the perfect complement to bath night. It makes the room smell of fall and coziness and peace. I really want a bubble bath now.

Makeup

This is the time of year I look forward to the most, not only for all the holiday collections, but because I get to break out the golds, bronzes, and dark lips. Berries and reds are my favorite for the season. There is just something so seductive about a dark lipstick and a brownish-gold eye. BareMinerals has an amazing little duo with a full sized lip pencil and a liquid lipstick for only $24-dollars.  The color lasted through a chicken artichoke on ancient grain flatbread and a steamy chia from Starbucks yesterday (feeding the addiction!!).  Great product, great price, I highly recommend going and checking it out before they are gone for the season.
